H3 Two Services Transition FAQs.
As H3 Church moves to two Sunday services, we know you may have questions about what’s changing and how it will affect you.
Why do we have to move to two services? Isn’t one enough?
The short answer is that we will move to two services to make room for more people to hear and be changed by the Good News of Jesus Christ. Our mission to Cultivate vessels – Raising fully devoted followers of Jesus has not changed.
Currently, our H3 Kids ministry is getting close to running out of space in the Family Room and classrooms, On average, 33% of our Sunday attendance is involved in H3 Kids Ministry, and we anticipate that as we grow, H3 Kids will be too crowded for effective ministry to happen. We believe by adding another service, we’ll be able to open up more room for more lives to be changed by the Gospel.
Will the gathering itself change at all?
No, our worship gatherings will remain the same and the two services will be identical in form and format. Same message, worship music, and service format. We will offer the same music, same preaching, same time duration, and the same ministries. We love what God is doing in our worship gatherings .
What would the potential new Sunday morning schedule look like?
When we make this transition, our plan right now is to Potentially have the service times would be as follows: first service: 9 AM ; second service: 11 AM. We may need to adjust these times down the road, as a church we are flexible and adaptable to change.
Will H3 Kids be offered at both times?
Yes. One of the primary reasons we are making this move is to add more space for our kids. To be able to offer this ministry at both services . This will even help some of our Kids ministry teachers sit one and serve one. If you have questions about how to get more involved with H3 Kids, we would encourage you to reach out to H3kids@H3.church.
Will B.U.D be offered at both times ?
B.U.D will retain their bi-weekly meetings but offered only during the 11 AM Service.
What will my kids do if we serve at one service and attend a second?
We want your kids to LOVE Jesus and His church, and we want to minimize anything that would cause them to dread having to be at church. This means that we want to make the time in H3 Kids as engaging as possible and do things that will make them want to come back and be a part. We recognize that most kids don’t want to be a part of the same program twice. To help with that, we are planning to have a special room to bless the kids whose parents graciously serve in H3 Kids and also attend the worship gathering. This room will be staffed, and will be filled with fun and games that will make your children’s extra time on those mornings a joy for them. For the teens, our hope would be that they too can serve in one service and join their family in worship for the other service.
Will we ever gather together as one large family again?
Yes! This move will make it even more critical that we think through ways for our whole church family to gather together as one body. One of those ways we will do that is through our continued Family Sundays, General church prayers times during the week. We will also encourage all-church picnics in the summer months to try to bring the whole church together. This decision will challenge us to be that much more intentional to find times for our whole church family to be together throughout the year.
I feel like I won’t know everyone if we move to two services.
You are right. You won’t know everyone, and yet you need to be known and know some. Even now, you are beyond the point of being able to know everyone on a personal, intimate level. This is why community with others is so vital. As we grow larger on a Sunday morning, we must grow smaller in our connections and relationships. Biblical Community only begins on a Sunday morning, but in community groups ( our Home Churches ), and while you serve, and
around dinner tables, and the other six days of the week. The vision of ‘Experiencing Community’ hasn’t
changed, whether we with one service , or two services.
Would our Sunday Morning prayers still hold ?
Yes, our Sunday morning prayers would now be at 8:15 AM.
What are the next steps?
- Pray: Any time there is change, the enemy will try to use that to cause division and destruction in the church. Please pray that this would not happen. Pray that God will provide the servant’s hearts necessary to meet all the needs. Pray that God would continue to use our church as a family on mission for His glory in Rutherford County & Beyond, and celebrate that now there will be two worship gatherings in which that can take place!
- Invite: Use this opportunity for more seats opening at H3 to invite someone to fill those seats and hear the gospel of Jesus Christ! Start to think of who you can invite and then ask God for the courage and boldness to step out in faith and make that invitation. How amazing would it be to fill two services with people hearing the gospel and worshiping the Lord Jesus Christ?
- Serve: If you are serving now, thank you! There is no way we could do this without you. If you are not currently serving anywhere on Sunday mornings, we would encourage you to pray about taking this opportunity to start serving on a Serve team. We especially need those who are willing to serve the youngest amongst us in H3 Kids. The needs to serve will be clearly communicated in the coming weeks. Please pray about helping with those.
